Rescuing and Rebuilding a Site That Had Been Down for Almost a Year.

A modern, fully managed website for Cultúr Migrant Centre — rebuilt from scratch after a hack took the site offline, in time to support an active grant funding application.

The Problem

Cultúr's WordPress site had been hacked and taken offline for 10–12 months due to a plugin vulnerability. With a grant funding application in progress, they needed a site live — fast. The old site was also slow, plugin-heavy, and difficult for the team to update independently. The organisation had no online presence at a moment when funders were looking.

What We Built

We started by recovering the domain and moving it to Cloudflare, putting control back in Cultúr's hands. The site was rebuilt from scratch on a modern stack, with Sanity as a lightweight CMS the team could use to update content without touching any code. The design was matched to Cultúr's existing brand — uniformity across the website, social media, and IRL events. Content sections were built around what the team needed to update regularly (events, projects, initiatives, resources, team pages) and what needed a more stable structure. Cloudflare handled delivery of Cultúr's extensive media library. Handover included in-person training sessions, video guides, and written documentation.

Key Features

  • Domain recovery and migration to Cloudflare
  • Sanity CMS for independent content management
  • Cloudflare media delivery for extensive photo and video library
  • Flexible content sections: events, projects, initiatives, resources, team
  • In-person training, video guides, and written handover documentation

What We Learned

A site that's down is a silent emergency for a charity seeking funding. Getting the domain recovered and something credible live was the first unlock — the design and content strategy could only do their job once the organisation had a presence at all. Speed of recovery mattered as much as quality of output.

The Opportunity

The Sanity CMS setup, Cloudflare media stack, and content model built for Cultúr is directly reusable for other community organisations that need a site they can own and maintain — without a developer on call every time something needs updating.
